It is learnt that Indian steel giant Steel Authority of India has recently secured an orders to supply special quality plates from oil major in a global tender
The tender was floated for procuring plates for fabrication of propane tanks in Western India and some global steel trading houses also took part.
As per market information, SAIL has secured order for supply of 600 tonnes of 20/25/38 plates in 2500mm width in ASTMA 537 CL1, with special TDC, at more than INR 63,000 per tonne EXW Bhilai Steel Plant plus taxes. Considering USD:INR rate of 46.08, it works out to about USD 1350 per tonne EXW.

Despite plates are lagging behind in recovery globally, these levels certainly reflect potential for special quality plates globally, although TDC for this particular order is reported to be quite stringent.
